Responsibilities:
The Rural Hospital Chief Financial Officer will be responsible for overseeing all financial operations of a rural hospital, including financial planning, analysis, and reporting. They will manage the hospital's budget, control expenses, and ensure regulatory compliance. The CFO also plays a key role in strategic planning, working with the CEO and other executives to ensure the hospital's financial health and long-term sustainability.
Financial Planning and Analysis: CFO will develop and manage the hospital’s budget, analyze financial performance, and forecast future financial trends.
Financial Reporting and Compliance: CFO will oversee the preparation of financial statements, ensure compliance with accounting standards, and manage tax and other state and federal reporting requirements. CFO will work with outside auditors on annual audit and other required filings.
Revenue Cycle Management: CFO will manage the hospital’s revenue cycle, including billing, collections and accounts receivable, to ensure timely and accurate reimbursement. They will work with hospital leaders and external billing support as needed to ensure optimal revenue cycle function.
Cost Management: CFO will identify opportunities to reduce costs and improve efficiency while maintaining quality patient care.
Risk Management: CFO will identify and manage financial risks, including regulatory compliance, insurance, and cybersecurity.
Strategic Planning: CFO will work with the CEO and other executives to develop and implement financial strategies that support the hospital’s overall goals and objectives.
Leadership and Management: CFO will lead and manage the finance department, providing guidance and support to staff and fostering a culture of teamwork and collaboration.
Stakeholder Communication: CFO will communicate financial information to the CEO, board of directors, and other stakeholders, ensuring transparency and accountability.
Qualifications:
Bachleor's degree in administration, accounting or finance accredited institution as approved and accepted by the University of South Alabama, ten years progressively responsible healthcare, financial management and/or accounting experience, preferably in a multi-hospital system. Master's degree and/or CPA is preferred. Health system experience is preferred.
