The IT Lab Administrator and Asset Coordinator’s primary responsibility is to plan, develop and coordinate the appropriate management configurations, software deployments, and security provisions to the University managed physical and virtual lab environments. The IT Lab Administrator and Asset Coordinator’s responsibilities will also include the management and organization of the deployment center assets.
Key Responsibilities:
Lab Oversight and Design
Manages and coordinates the replacement of lab equipment and devices
Plans and executes lab image deployments and updates
Collaborates with technology partners to maintain and enhance departmental lab environments
Proactively plan with faculty and staff on lab software load sets and licensing
Develops and maintains comprehensive documentation for lab software and deployment processes
Oversees the creation and management of virtual lab environments
Administers and monitors student print management systems
Administers lab printers and analyze usage data to optimize performance and costs
Repairs and maintains lab hardware to ensure consistent functionality
Trains and oversees technical student staff to remediate common lab issues with printing and general device maintenance
Deployment Center Coordination and Device Management
Prepares and image new machines for desktop deployment services
Ensures the new computer systems are properly hosted in the correct cloud-based management systems
Will be required to competently document solutions and create relevant analytics
Maintain accurate device asset record system and manage device lifecycle processes
Coordinates with endpoint operations the removal of aged computer systems and hardware from all university management systems to ensure proper data clear IT asset lifecycle management
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
The IT Lab Administrator and Asset Coordinator’s primary responsibility is to plan, develop and coordinate the appropriate lab management configurations, packaged software deployments, and security policy provisions to the University managed physical, virtual lab environments and maintain an ethical, accessible, and safe space for study and collaboration.
The IT Lab Administrator and Asset Coordinator will maintain lab operations by Administering and monitoring student print management systems, repairing and maintaining lab hardware to ensure consistent reliable functionality and keep staff cross trained to troubleshoot and remediate common lab issues with printing and general device maintenance.
The IT Lab Administrator and Asset Coordinator will prepare and image new machines for desktop deployment services, Ensure the new computer systems are properly hosted in the correct cloud-based management systems, and maintain the new model driver database records for imaging.
The IT Lab Administrator and Asset Coordinator will implement and maintain accurate device asset record system and manage device, coordinate with endpoint operations the removal of aged computer systems and hardware from all university management systems to ensure proper data clear IT asset lifecycle management.
The IT Lab Administrator and Asset Coordinator will be expected to consult with representatives from departmental labs on software load sets, licensing, and hardware configurations.
The IT Lab Administrator and Asset Coordinator will be expected to competently document solutions, create end user consumable knowledgebase articles and create relevant supporting project focused analytics.
REQUIREMENTS:
Minimum qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in computer science or a related field from an accredited institution
1-3 years or relevant work experience
Dell Tier II support certification for hardware within 90 days of hire
Alternately, the successful candidate may possess any equivalent combination of experience and training, which provides the knowledge, skills and abilities required to perform the essential job functions. This includes, but is not limited to, the following:
Experience deploying Windows and Apple computers in a managed enterprise environment utilizing services such as Microsoft Endpoint Manager, JAMF, Microsoft Deployment Toolkit and utilizing an Active Directory object managed environment
Strong knowledge of computer hardware, software and network systems
Ability to diagnose and resolve technical issues quickly
Experience with IP address management, and desktop related network configurations and topologies
Experience with managed printer and print server technologies
Experience with operations and configurations Virtual technologies such as VWware and Microsoft Hyper-V or other virtual environments
Experience in developing and maintaining documentation, guides and process documentation
Strong interpersonal skills to coordinate with different departments and vendors
Ability to communicate clearly and effectively to assist students and staff with technical issues
Organizational skills on maintaining inventory, and ensuring all equipment is in working order
Experience with software license management and deployment technologies such as Microsoft SCCM / KMS, Microsoft Windows Intune MDM or JAMF Pro Suite
